cupidsbower: Okay, I honestly thought Stein’s recount effort would find nothing, and Trump would go on his merry way as President. However, this week, forces are starting to roll out against the recount in a significant way, and that? That has me thinking that maybe there is something to find after all. The mainstream media… Continue reading The latest recount drama
not-a-space-alien: itsstuckyinmyhead: itsstuckyinmyhead: what is up with trump supporters saying “the people spoke and we wanted trump” No the people spoke and we wanted Hilary. She won the popular vote by 574,064 votes 🙂 I think the most frustrating thing about the 2016 election for me is that lots of people voted for Trump to be “anti-system”… Continue reading
edit: yall, please stop reposting this. this map was a projection before the election that ended up being completely off base. if you’re interested what millennials actually did:
among 18 to 29 year olds (young millenials), clinton did receive a majority of the vote (55 percent compared to 37 percent for trump)
however, despite projections, more young white millenials voted for trump than clinton (48 percent to 43 percent)
if only millenials had voted, yes, clinton probably would have won (although not by quite as much as was projected) [map 1] [map 2] (by the way, the reason some states in map 2 are grey is because they don’t have exit polls…but even without those states, clinton has 321 electoral college votes, more than enough to win)
i can’t find a map that says what would have happened if only white millennials had voted…but yeah, despite pre-election projections that white millennials would have elected clinton, it seems much more likely that trump would have won. however, depending on how the votes were distributed it’s possible (though i think improbable) that he would have only won the popular white millennial vote and lost the electoral college
anyways, sorry for accidentally perpetuating the false news cycle. i posted the original map before the election, i didn’t think it would explode (for whatever reason) after the election. will try to include more context in the future so that doesn’t happen again.
my original version of this post, which i made pre-election, has been reblogged like 40k times since the election, and since in hindsight it’s kind of misleading, i wanted to set the record straight. so…feel free to reblog this version instead. apologies for posting more election stuff, but i felt like i should probably address this
bigskydreaming: Okay, this is……not something I saw coming to say the least. But Jill Stein is apparently planning to file for a recount in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan (the three crucial states Hillary needed to win, which are most speculated to have voter fraud). It just depends on if she can raise the money in… Continue reading
you’re still bigoted if you’re indifferent to the pain and suffering of people different from you though.
it’s not just “i hate Brown/Black/lgbt/Muslim/Jewish people”; it’s also “I’m able to turn a blind eye to their suffering because i don’t consider it important. i only recognize and care for the pain of others like me”.
“you’re acceptable collateral damage”
Which is why the subsequent “we’ve survived worse” is all the more infuriating. You’ve already written marginalized folks off for whatever reason, because you’re hoping for the rose in this pile of shit
onemuseleft: Guys, I’m delighted that Trump is going to be in over his head too, but the fact that he doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing is not good. Best case scenario is that Pence is literally running the country from behind Trump – just like we all accused Cheney of doing with Bush.… Continue reading
….it just truly hit me that trump MIGHT become the US president. I may wake up in a world where he is. And even if he doesn’t – even if the number are though that they make it clear that no it wasn’t really a possibility – we’ll still be living in a world where… Continue reading
