It really grinds my gears that they made fucking TENTEN be a medic ninja. Um, surely if anyone on Team Guy was going to be a medic ninja it should have been Neji? You know, with the magic eyes that can SEE INSIDE THE BODY??? IDK man I’m not a ninja but being able to see chakra flow seems pretty fucking relevant to the job description of medic nin.
Also, I know that Kishimoto started this whole shitshow by making Ino learn medic ninja skills but can this girl get a vacation PLEASE. She’s doing missions, she’s at the hospital, she’s in T&I, she’s doing shifts at Yamanaka Flowers, she’s the head of her clan, in Sakura Hiden she was helping Sakura open a children’s mental health centre, and now in Shikamaru Hiden she’s apparently a jounin sensei! Is a time-turner one of the Yamanaka clan secrets because damn that is a lot of work for one person.
I feel like there’s probably also something to say about the fact that pretty much the only male characters with medical skills are evil? (And, in Orochimaru’s case, queer-coded?) I don’t know what bugs me more: the fact that apparently if men learn healing they distort it into something used for violence or the fact that apparently women can’t do the same.
Why aren’t female characters using their medical skills to perform creepy body mods in the search for immortality? (Where my female villains at, y’all?)
I’m not exactly sure what my point is here, but I feel like there’s a point to be made.
I feel your point, mouse. I feel it in my bones because female characters get to be carbon copies of each other but men get to be everything from the baddest hero to the most amazing villain and the girls are just down there like, “let’s all do the same thing and become essentially redundant to the story line unless we get kidnapped or killed for male character development.”

I just saw that accidental hero Obito thing and am now thinking about an au where Obito pulls an Kurama. Like he goes to get the one tail when Gaara’s like 5 w/ Kisame and he gets there and it’s just this sad kid all by himself and it hits a nerve b/c he too was a sad kid so he decides to just take the kid w/ him and comes up w/ a bunch of bs as to why, trying to justify that he still going to follow through on his plan but he is just Gone for this little sad kid. So, yes, another Au (coff) with Sakura as their meister! I was going with Sasuke as meister, Naruto as his weapon and Sakura (meister) with Kakashi as hers, but then the “why not” became very strong and … ops? Again?
