princessnijireiki: dangercupcakemurdericing: I’m really over wlw art that makes the Knight in Princess and Knight stories darker skinned than the Princess. If this switched off I wouldn’t mind, or hell if I saw both archetypes depicted as dark on the regular I wouldn’t care, but that is not what is going on. yeah, it’s gross.… Continue reading

“They’re afraid of losing friends, being ridiculed in class, getting worse grades and are even afraid of being assaulted and physically hurt.”
good
no, not good. because if we hate them as much as Trump and his supporters hate certain groups, we are no better than they are.
yeah I am
“if you hate these bigots you’re just as bigoted as they are”
This “we’re no better than them” mentality makes the critical mistake that hate itself is the problem.
Hate is not the problem. At all. Hate can be constructive. Hate can be defensive and come from righteous outrage.
The problem is irrational hate towards innocent people.
Hating a racist is COMPLETELY fucking different from hating a race. A whole race didn’t do anything wrong. A racist did. Hating the racist is 100% proportionate, justifiable retaliation.
Fucking. Mic. Drop.
The reason that hate groups like the Klan have been driven so near to extinction is because of this exact thing. It became unfashionable to be publicly racist, and the backlash against those kinds of groups became unbearable for them. It drove them out of the limelight and into the very fringes of society.
This postmodern “hating the hate makes you just as bad” bullshit is what’s allowing them to re-prosper.
Fuck that.
Expose them. Make them lose their friends. Ridicule them in classes. If you can get away with it, beat their asses. Show them what it means that we will not go back to that way of life again. It’s time for the racists to be the ones who live in fear.
Hating bigotry does not a bigot make.
Imma just leave this here
Okay. This is an important point and I want to be clear about it.
It is okay to be outraged by bigotry and to want it to have consequences. Hating bigots does not make you as bad as them.
However, this can not be used to justify everything. If you think there are no bad tactics just bad targets then I’m going to strongly disagree.
So, what are some tactics that are over the line?
Don’t harass people. If someone says or does something hateful or bigoted you have every right to call them out on it and make your displeasure known. You do not have the right to continually ridicule them. This is a hard one because there is no clear line between critique and harassment. If you ever do cross that line you probably won’t realize it. Try and count on other people to let you know if and try to consider if you’re letting someone know something is unacceptable or if you’re causing them pain or distress to get revenge.
Do not assault people. If a bigot is assaulting you or someone else you can defend yourself or try to stop them from hurting people. Do not kick people’s asses for saying bigoted things. I get it. You wanna punch them right in the nose and let them know how wrong they are. That’s not a good way to do it.
And since this is the Internet let’s hit another point. Do not dox people. This would be collecting and sharing someone’s personal information (including but not limited to: social media accounts, email, phone, work place or home address) to make it easier for others to harass or assault them.
There definitely need to be consequences for being bigoted but there also need to be standards we should hold ourselves to in fighting them. Semantically you may not he AS bad as them but that’s not the point. If the ends justify the means progress will never really come.
livebloggingandreblogging: roachpatrol: beldaran: I keep seeing people talking about how the Game Over timeline characters were so much more well developed in this or that way, and that the new timeline’s versions are shallow and underdeveloped, and I strongly disagree. The Game Over timeline characters were miserable. They weren’t “more developed” in any ways that… Continue reading
whenever I’ve had a particularly bad day my friend will ask me what my favourite colour is because he knows that looking for the exact photo of the colour will distract me from whatever shitty thing happened that day
I hope you all have someone like this in your life
No really both Jeremy/Jean and Allison/Renee are great ships But I still have a weakness for Jean/Renee and obviously the world NEEDS a Jeremy&Renee team-up – I mean yes someone will probably take a hit on them Aaron’s right but somehow I don’t think it would work out for them – so obviously what we… Continue reading
shnee: six of crows is seriously so great though like it revolves around six kids who, between them, consist of: two poc, two non-straight characters, a character with a learning disability, a character with a physical disability and symptoms of post-traumatic stress, two former sex workers, a chubby character who is consistently referred to as… Continue reading
allacharade: prokopetz: Have you ever noticed how much we use signal degradation as a shorthand for existential “wrongness”? The influence of a hostile, alien presence… Continue reading
