These are fantastic examples of how female superheroes could be dressed.
Don’t get me wrong, I have a lot of love for the classics. But the number of times I have raised my eyebrows at gravity defying breasts and heels so uncomfortable looking my calves cramp just thinking about them is incalculable. These outfits right here would make for not only sexy, but also (literal) kick ass cosplays!
Supergirl needs the blue body suit, Vampi needs red, Zatanna has lost anything and everything that made her her, and Diana’s design looks more suitable for Donna, but as exercises in design they work very well.
Wow these are, so… UNBELIVABLY DULL. Half of them look the same and have almost no personality, isn’t the idea of a Superheros costume that it reflects some of what or who they are? These look more like military uniforms than anything else.
*laughs* you know, when I first reblogged this, they all looked pretty different to me- and then I looked again…
I think it’s because the first time I was reading the little text things and looking more closely at details, and the second time I was just scanning on overview mode.
Combining the two impressions- I really do think there are some cool little details in here. I like the hairstyles, Electra’s face-mask, the fact that Black Canary’s outfit is more home-made (and I am a sucker for goggles!). But overall? You’re right. In the broad strokes they’re just not distinctive enough.
I think that’s at least in part because the artist was avoiding bright colour blocks- which, seriously? Most superhero outfits fall into a fairly narrow range of styles generally, but are visually distinct because of the bright colours and how they’re used. And honestly, just because the Incredibles said “no capes” does not mean you have to be allergic to them in character design.
But then there’s no context for what the artist was going for? If “more realistic/practical” then I’d say they’re well on the way there. If just straight “redesign with less tits-and-ass mentality” then the superhero side of the design work needs more beefing up.
what’s sense8 about? I saw some gifs and it looks cool. Is it?
pasiphile: Sense8 is a modern-day-set science fiction series made by Michael Straczynski and the Wachowskis (they of the Matrix and more recently Jupiter Ascending). It’s roughly in the same vein of things like Heroes and Lost, in that it’s about eight people across the globe who discover they have some kind of unusual power: in… Continue reading what’s sense8 about? BRUCE: I’ve created jobs by keeping Wayne Enterprises in Gotham. I’ve provided scholarships to every employee of my company and I offer them to others as well. I’ve built orphanages and hospitals, including mental health facilities. I’ve provided jobs to ex-felons right out of prison so they can rebuild their lives. I’ve supported pro-reform political candidates and the few honest cops in Gotham City.
BRUCE: It’s going to take time to reform the system and lift this city out of poverty and corruption, so I think I’ll spend my evenings protecting the people who live here. Tonight, I’m going after the criminals preying on the sex workers struggling to make a living in Crime Alley.
BRUCE: And once I’ve kicked some ass, I’ll offer their victims jobs at Wayne Enterprises so they can get off the streets and have stable, safe, legal employment. I’ll pay for any education or training they might need.
ALFRED: Don’t forget your cape, sir.
Oh snap! And if anyone is curious, I can show scans of these exact situations they’re talking about.
