Steve gives a report on each Avenger (when he’s Commander Rogers right after Siege, post-Civil War) and spends a lot of Tony’s report saying how wonderful Tony is.

Heroic Age: Super Heroes (2010)

I want to take the phrase “Team player, natural leader” and plaster it all over everything, because the fact that 616 Tony IS an incredible team player, works REALLY WELL on teams, is able to TAKE direction as well as GIVE it is one of my many favourite things about Tony. (Which sadly seem to be fading from fandom memory as MCU’s ‘I don’t play well with others’ characterisation predominates and makes me want to cry).

This is why even those of us who love the MCU get really sourwhen MCU characterization trumps 616 canon characterization in the comicsTHEY ARE NOT THE SAME and that is a good thing I love both Tonys but though they share some key narrative bits and some character traits they’re not the same guy and comics writers who try to shoehorn 616 Tony into MCU Tony’s shoes do a real disservice to decades of characterization and fans shockingly don’t like it even the ones like me who came FROM MCU who I suspect they’re trying to appeal to not a great plan (via flange5)

HOLD ON, this looks like Secret Wars: Civil War is only set 6 years past Civil War in the original 616 story. So yeah, timelines could be different, but there isn’t much to indicate CW happened later in the SW Battleworld.

My point is, if we think 616 Tony was maybe turning 40 when he came back from space and hated the party they threw him (supported by Marvel placing him at 35 shortly following original Civil War), there’s no way this silver-haired Tony should be over 50.

Which seems like his hair probably just went white from stress, but he’s actually still fairly young.

Siege is super worth reading for many reasons (Ms America/Kate romance! Brand being Brand! Super trippy art! Ultrons in love! Magik and Leah in love! Lots of love, actually???? Anyway it’s GREAT) but one of the absolute BEST parts of the entire mini-series is Kang and Brand’s super begrudging, super adorable relationship. Look at them. Look at these fucking dorks.
